Michael Hudson often writes and speaks how the Roman Church altered the Jubilee from debt forgiveness to the sale of indulgences. Doubtlessly, all humans are subject to sex; therefore all are sinners. What a money maker!
It's highly illustrative that the jubilees that once meant debt forgiveness for the poor—as so brilliantly noted by Dr. Hudson—became a vehicle for the poor to surrender what little wealth they had.
