Dear Subscriber,
Happy New Year! Thank you sincerely for being a part of System Failure. 2024 was quite a time in this space. We established our weekly newsletter and podcast schedule early last year, and back in August, the world-renowned economist and historian Michael Hudson rewarded us with a visit. Our community has grown by over 25% in just the past six months alone!
But we have much, much more in store for you in 2025…
Last spring, I organized the System Failure Constellation of Ideas into 52 newsletters. I’ll continue to write and revise those for you in 2025. You can follow our progress on the System Failure Essay Schedule. These weekly newsletters will continue to be delivered to your inbox every Monday.
In addition, during the second half of 2025, I plan to launch a second weekly newsletter. My idea is to apply the history and philosophy of System Failure to current events. I haven’t decided whether these should expand on the current Monday newsletters or stand alone. If you have an opinion, I’d love to hear it!
On the podcast side, we are working behind the scenes to soon bring you Francesca Sabatini from the University of Florence. Her area of expertise is the magical beliefs and practices of the Medici banking family, which ruled Florence during the Italian Renaissance. And, of course, Brian and I will continue to deliver fresh podcasts to you every Monday, and I’ll continue the weekly essay reads on Thursdays.
We’ve also been kicking the tires on short video animations to disseminate System Failure ideas and promote them on social media. In this dawning age of AI, some decent tools are just popping into existence, giving us a way to animate the System Failure suite of concepts. Look for these animations on your favored social media platforms during the first half of 2025.
All this is not even to mention the brand new domain name we will be operating under, starting in just a few days on January 1st.
I’m really looking forward to 2025, and I hope you are, too! The tandem collapses of economic and authoritative structures will undoubtedly become even more disconcerting in the coming year. But here at System Failure, we’ll continue to make the case for great hope.
Warmest holiday wishes,
Nathan A Knopp
